[i received a free copy of the ARC in exchange for my opinion of this book. however, all opinions are my own.]
this book was so good! the characters were all vividly distinct and well developed (i particularly loved our MC and her love interest). the side characters, while there are many, are all unique enough that it's not too confusing to remember who is who.
the plot was great as well! extremely character-driven, which i love, and full of twists and turns that kept me fascinated. i read this whole book in basically one sitting.
i especially loved the magic system ireen created—it's so different from any other one that i've read, and i thought it was well built.
of course, it's not a perfect book. there were a few characters who i felt got forgotten by the end, and a couple of moments that were confusing (just for a bit, though!).
i would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes jane austen or other regency era stories as well as anyone who likes fantasy novels!
plus, you can see the author's drawings of all the main characters on instagram (@theherbwitchsapprentice) so that's extra fun ;)
