King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

3.0

This was a hard one to rate. On one hand, I'm a slut for Nikolai. He's been my favorite character in any of the books only next to kickass Inej. First half of the book seems to be just kind of, meh. But I did still really enjoy reading Nikolai's banter and his general tom-fuckery. I even came to love Zoya to my surprise.

Then the big plot twist happened and I was like "yo this is pretty cool", but then it was as if Bardugo kept trying to...twist it more? Idk how to put it exactly, but the big plot twist ended up losing a lot of its appeal and I was so ready for it to be over.

Overall I enjoyed it, just wish things hadn't gotten so convoluted. The next book better give us a LOT more detail and insight to Zoya's new power or I will quite literally riot.
