Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon

5.0

I'll go ahead and say it: I'm probably unreasonably in love with this series. Call it romance, historical fiction, or time-travel fantasy, there's no denying that Dragonfly in Amber is a worthy successor to the original Outlander novel. The story of Claire and Jamie continues, through court intrigue in France to the doomed battles of the Jacobites in Scotland. Diana Gabaldon has done a masterful job of conveying the heartache and sorrow of the main love story, while keeping the historical elements real and powerful. Framed on either end by a more contemporary storyline, Dragonfly in Amber seems to wrap up many of the plot points from Outlander, but by the end moves the story in a new and unexpected direction. These books are huge (900+ pages), but well worth it. I will absolutely continue with this series, and can't wait to see what happens next. I highly recommend Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber.
