Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict
by Laurie Viera Rigler
I liked it and didn't like it simultaneously. In the book the narrator is a woman living in modern times who loves to read Jane Austen Novels. One day she wakes up to discover herself in the body of a woman who lives in Regency England.
What I liked: The premise is excellent. Who hasn't read a book and wondered what it would be like to live in that time period. The author seems to have made a reasonable effort to portray the daily life of a lady during the time period through the eyes of a modern, ah... woman.
What I didn't like: The main character. She's a woman but certainly no lady. She embodies most of the worst characteristics of a stereotypical modern woman. She is so frustratingly oblivious to the hypocricies of "feminism" in modern times and the advantages to more lady like behavior.
