American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Martin J. Sherwin, Kai Bird

challenging informative inspiring reflective slow-paced

5.0

The amount of work alone that went into this book warrants a 5-star rating from me, but I think the authors' poignant prose and brilliant literary summary of one of history's most complex characters really solidifies this rating. I took 5 weeks to read it and I'm not really sure what to do now that I've finished it. I'll be thinking about Oppenheimer's life, and the parallels that I see between the current political climate and that of the 1950s, for a long time.

"Lord, these affairs are hard on the heart."
