This was a solid read. Some of the interactions between the main characters gave me The Woods/Love & Basketball vibes. I enjoyed the story being set in the late 80s/early 90s. The mentioning of things like beepers and songs relevant to the time period was fun. Now let’s get into the romance…

Theo, the main male character, was a man child and it wasn’t just because he was three years younger than his love interest or the baby of the family. I felt like the situation between him and Yalena, the main female character, was 100% fixable in the moment. It wasn’t deep enough for him to become the president of the he man woman haters club. And he was a wee bit on the dramatic side throwing tantrums.

Usually I’m rooting for a couple through all the miscommunication and antics, but not this one. I was hoping Yalena was gone hit him with a “I’m good love, enjoy” and kept it pushing, but nope she was a lover girl.
