My Heart Is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones
Did not finish book. Stopped at 22%.
Sorry this book just isn’t for me. The writing is difficult for me to connect with and the plot is not engaging (maybe disjointed is the best was to describe it)
I am a huge fan of horror/slasher movies but the amount of references not only pull me out of the story but make me think the main character can’t go about her life without comparing everything to a slasher. I understand this is likely her coping mechanism to process the abuse in her life but that was not enough to keep me reading.
I enjoyed the slasher 101 essay inserted between each chapter and the concept is great. For me it’s just the writing and pacing that preventing me from continuing. Unfortunately I did not make it far enough really judge the story :(
