Will Not Attend: Lively Stories of Detachment and Isolation by Adam Resnick

3.0

Read this purely because of the title and my perceived relatability of it. I knew nothing about Resnick or his work in comedy, but i guess that’s a good thing as i would’ve expected something better. Contrary to my expectations, this was barely relatable, which i think has got more to do with the author’s experiences being Eurocentric, but i got some laughs (snickers(?)chuckles(?)) out of it.

The author was very edgy, even the way he wrote was edgy, it read like Fight Club haha. This was fitting considering the things he wrote about. But as a memoir this seemed very random. The stories could’ve at least been arranged in a chronological order just for coherence.
Also none of the stories were exceptional, but Blue Yodel No. 13 stood out and An Easter Story was pretty good.

This was nothing bad, just not for me.

Ave rating (rated each story): 3.31
