Shadows in Death by J.D. Robb

5.0

“He kills for money, and if it’s otherwise, he goes for the weak. He thought I was.”
“You’ve never been weak.”
When he just looked at her, she shook her head. “I’m not your weakness, Roarke. I’m your goddamn weapon.”

The one where Eve investigates a murder for hire and the hitman has a history with Roarke and goes after them.

“It’s a bigger word than jealousy. It’s jealousy mixed with obsession mixed with hate and resentment. When you add in the fear, because it has to be there, it’s lethal.”

This honestly felt like it should have been the 50th book. It focused a lot on Roarke and his past.
