The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker
Did not finish book.
I really, really love the story of the Iliad. And I really, really love stories about women. So this should be right up my street right?
Nope. I read Women of Troy with a lot of effort, and hoped the first book in the series had been better.
It wasn't. None of the characters has any personality. The men are just one-dimensional - fair enough - but the women have no agency, no presence. It's just bleak and boring and repetitive. I could not finish it.
