Doctor Dearest by R.S. Grey
4.0
“Torturous, isn’t it?” he says, his tone sending a shiver down my spine. “Wanting something and knowing you can’t have it?”
R.S. Grey’s romcoms will forever be my happy place. I love them so much! I’m never disappointed when a new one comes out and I savor every page because I long for a never ending story. Doctor Dearest was absolutely wonderful!
“For years, I’ve lived in silence about my feelings. For years I’ve had to watch Natalie from afar, knowing she was untouchable.”
Connor Easton is serious and reserved. He’s handsome and intelligent and the doctor every woman dreams of. He’s been in love with Natalie for as long as he can remember, but has never been able to act on his feelings because she’s his best friend’s sister.
“Are you drunk?”
One of her eyes narrows in thought. “Define drunk.”
“Inebriated. Three sheets to the wind. In your cups.”
She grins. “Yes, that one. Sounds very dignified. I’m ‘in my cups’.”
Natalie Martin is independent and determined. She’s also absolutely hilarious! I laughed so much while reading her chapters. All her life she heard her mother tell her she needed to pave her own path and not depend on a man or let a man become her dream. Natalie has made this her life motto and therefore never has time to even think of a man, let alone her brother’s best friend, the gorgeous Dr. Connor Easton.
These two were so stubborn it was hilarious. There were moments when I wanted to jump into the novel and shake some sense into them. Their personalities were so alike, so determined, and so sure in their thoughts that it clouded how they perceived the other’s feelings.
R.S. Grey always knows how to write these hilarious characters, but at the same time you can totally relate to them. Natalie was in her head most of the time, convincing herself that Connor wasn’t in love with her and Connor was afraid to go too fast and ruin everything, while still trying to convince himself he wasn’t betraying his best friend’s trust. It just took them a little time and the right circumstances to realize they belonged together.
Doctor Dearest was super entertaining. If you’re a fan of Grey’s Anatomy I recommend you pick this one up!
*A huge thanks to R.S. Grey for providing me with an eARC for review. All thoughts are my own.*
