Aphrodite's Passion by Julie Kenner

3.0

Hale doesn't like mortals. Oh sure, he'll sleep with the occasional beautiful woman and he tolerates his half-sister's husband and their friends just fine... but he doesn't like mortals. When his sister's mother found out that his father was a Protector (super-hero), she freaked out and rejected them both. Now he knows that mortals can't handle his secret (he's an animalinguist, he can speak to mammals and can be invisible and move really fast) and he doesn't want to have anything to do with them. Except that he has to. His newest mission is to rescue Aphrodite's girdle from Tracy Tannin. She inherited the belt from her grandmother, who was a famous movie star. Apparently, if a mortal wears the belt, s/he can get her hearts fondest desires. For Tracy, people get out of the way when she wants coffee, the barista remembers her orders, and all of a sudden, two men that she's attracted to seem very interested in her as well. That never happens. One is Leon, the star of the show where Tracy trains animals. The other is Hale, the famous romance cover model. Really? Okay, this book was published in 2002 so there are a couple of things that are a little dated. But if you can suspend your disbelief and remember when the book was written, it's a fun ride.
