I have yet to be disappointed by anything written by Wagamese - this was not the book I expected and I loved every second of it. I adored the characters - I adored their development throughout the story. I appreciated the plot line - the hope, inspiration and devastation caused by the events in the book. I loved the unexpected relationships and how each character was unapologetically themselves. The story was also heartbreakingly honest and real - especially as it relates to the experience of those who have been chronically homeless.
