Landlines by Raynor Winn

4.5/5

Raynor and her chronically ill husband set off to walk the Cape Wrath trail in Scotland, with the aim of improving Moth’s health. What follows next is a beautifully told story of their time walking, their lives, the people we meet and the way we connect to each other and the world around us. It really made me want to go hiking - although possibly not quite as far as they did!

It lost half a star because I think sometimes there was an unnecessary stereotyping of certain types of people who lived differently to the author, which is a shame and didn’t add anything to the book itself.

I cried at the end and I’m not normally a crier with books, especially not autobiographies.
