Jesus' Son by Denis Johnson

I liked that throughout this book you gain empathy for the main character as he struggles due to his addiction and tend to dismiss his actions because of it. Then at the end, he is sober, and you realize that he is still a creep. And it makes you think of where you need to draw the moral boundaries for you or peers when they are subjected to a distorted view due to addiction.
