The Passage by Justin Cronin

4.0

Unlike the review by Stephen King, it took me more than 5 pages to get into, but it was worth sticking around to read and finish. There were dull parts and sometimes the writing seem incoherent, but for the most part it was a good epic. The ending does make me want to read the rest of the series, cause after 700+ pages, I am caught up in the characters and need to know their fates.

The one thing that bugged me the most about the book is the shift in characters. For the most part, the book follows one guy for about a 1/3 of the way through. Then times shifts and you get a whole slew of other characters for the rest of the book. I understand the shift and the reason of switching characters, but it still bugged me that I got invested in one character for a good chunk of the book only to have to stop caring about him and move onto a different group of people.

I'll definitely try and go through the rest of books someday.
