This Lullaby
by Sarah Dessen
4.5 stars but I'm rounding up.
On a Sarah Dessen reread streak! Can you tell?
This Lullaby holds up after so many years, and is still my favorite YA contemporary work. I used to reread this so much back in late middle school through high school. I loved getting to reconnect with my favorite Dessen girl Remy and Dexter (who was one of my first book bfs). Plus, I never really like leaving this world behind - the nostalgia is so real with this book! Maybe I'll make a habit of rereading this every once in a while again.
Knocking off half a star for the one-time use of the "g" slur and that conversation about the painting that can come off as fatphobic. Hopefully future reprints will rectify those issues.
