lreay89 's review for:
Dragon Keeper
by Robin Hobb
I agree with previous reviews that this book is a ‘filler’ book.
It’s setting the scene for events yet to come. Tantalising clues and questions are being fed to you throughout the book. I love how Sintara has become a surrogate voice now for dragons with the loss of Tintaglia (who is off with her new dragon beau).
As usual Robin is delicately and thoughtfully addressing difficult subjects such as homosexuality, genetic defects, friendship, independence and political ideas all wrapped up into a book that’s written with her usual aplomb and style.
Yet this book doesn’t feel like a lecture of her beliefs. She invites you to decide for yourself and to question some of your personal beliefs in the process.
This isn’t as action packed as some of her previous first books in her series (its more of a plod along as you figure out what’s going on) but that’s been perfect for me at the beginning of our Fuerteventura holiday.
I do recommend this book but be prepared for it to be slower to get going. I already knew this from reading other reviews so wasn’t disappointed. I’m looking forward to continuing the story with the Dragons, keepers and the rain wilds.
