Conjure by Harleigh Beck
3.0

Conjure follows step-siblings Camryn & Dominic. After Dominic’s father & brother die in a car accident, they are forced to relocate to a run down, rumored haunted house with Camryn’s mother. When Camryn & her friends decide to do a séance, they quickly realized they gave a dangerous entity easy access to them.

Conjure is a paranormal erotic horror, containing very dark themes & elements, please check your content warnings.

I was thrilled to dive into this book after hearing so many good things about it. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I've read other works by Harleigh Beck and absolutely loved them, so I think this one just wasn't for me.

The premise and plot were really intriguing. The paranormal and horror aspects kept me on edge, reminding me a bit of "Final Destination"—I loved that! The fear factor was definitely present.

What fell flat for me was the relationship between the main characters. I didn't really vibe with either of them, and their relationship felt somewhat forced. I'm not sure if I didn't like them individually or just didn't like them together. With the spice being such a huge part of the story, the lack of chemistry between the MCs made it feel very lackluster.

Overall, it was an easy read with a captivating plot, and I thoroughly enjoyed that aspect. Unfortunately, I just didn't connect with the main characters.

However, I would still recommend this book to people looking for a creepy, edge of your seat, paranormal horror book!
