I Think I Might Be Autistic: A Guide to Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnosis and Self-Discovery for Adults by Cynthia Kim

5.0

This book changed my life. Two years ago about this time of year I saw a TikTok video that sent me down a rabbit hole of autism research about myself and I had so much impostor syndrome that I couldn't decide whether I was autistic or not. After I read this book I had no doubt. It describes in detail ways in which the vague criteria of the DSM-5 for autism presents in people especially people who are masked I.e. hiding their traits. I recommend it to anyone thinking they might be autistic and I recommend it to any parents that think that their child might be. Once you read it I think you will have no doubts anymore as to whether you are or not. It's a very good tool for self-diagnosis or to spur you on to get an official diagnosis if that works for you. Everyone has to make that decision for themselves. I do autism advocacy on Medium I go by the same username. I also write about my journey writing and trying to get my novel published.
