The Coven
by Harper L. Woods
I wanted a book with witchy vibes for the season, and this definitely gave the witchy vibes. I’m not sure they’re the ones I was looking for though. The setting gave the feelings of dark academia, mixed with a sprinkle of Harry Potter (and I say that lightly). There were types of witches that were in “houses,” and I wish they focused on this aspect more and dove in to the details. Instead, this book focused on relationships between vessels and witches. One specific relationship was eternally cringy, and ruined the interesting historical fantasy aspects of this book. There was a cliffhanger that made me wonder what lies next, but I don’t think it’s enough to lead me to read the sequel. 2.5 stars.
