It’s close to perfect. The seventh chapter particularly is probably the best portrayal of death I have ever read. I do think the jump from the chapter write before that is a little abrupt and I don’t really like when Lampedusa makes cultural references that happened much later than the setting of the book (like to Battleship Potemkin), but they are very, very minor complaints.
