If You Still Recognise Me by Cynthia So

The worst thing is that I've never been able to figure out whether this awareness of being set apart from others is something that I've internalized, so that I just feel like I'm unwelcome because of my long history of not belonging, or whether it's something that's really happening to me in the actual moment, that I really am being treated differently, in a way I can't articulate but can only feel, because life has made me uniquely sensitive to it. // "But it's not impossible to find your people. People who can understand you - they exist. And the right people - the right person - won't be putting up with you. They'll want you exactly as you are."

A great book about finding your own ways in discovering your identity and family. The representations were handled beautifully and I love the way it hits the spot about finding yourself through fandoms (as a lot of us can relate to). The writing felt a bit young to me as the characters are supposed to be going to college, there was a plot that felt creepy and invasive to me that could've been handled better, and too much info-dumpy/sudden plot change going on. Despite that, I do believe a lot of people will definitely see themselves in this book and that this book will definitely help a lot of teenagers at discovering themselves too.

Thank you to Little Tiger and Netgalley for the arc!
