The Deception of the Emerald Ring by Lauren Willig

3.0

A fun read in the genre-defying Pink carnation series. Eloise's contemporary romance is beginning to dangle, but the forced marriage due to accidental compromise trope plays out nicely in the midst of the 19th century espionage story. Willig handles Geoffrey's real anger and confusion over ending up with the wrong bride nicely. My only complaint is that Letty's character is inconsistent - she veers between too stupid to live and capable, caring heroine trying to make the best of an unwanted situation.
