Sea of Sorrows
by James A. Moore
Aside from the addition of mild psychic powers, this is a solid Alien story, hitting all the highlights: the crooked company, the power-hungry company stooge, Xenomorphs being alien, explosions, body horror, etc. It’s better than any of the sequels made after Aliens, which is why they went back to James Cameron’s film for inspiration. The other stuff is taken into account, but it’s mostly just mentioned as background.
There’s also an audio adaptation that is like a good old fashioned radio drama, complete with music and sound effects. It’s even better than the book, I think. Someone uploaded it to YouTube if you want to check it out: https://youtu.be/fLRzM5R5ggI If you like Alien and Aliens, you’ll enjoy this, I think.
