After devouring Not In Love I was eager to pick up another Ali Hazelwood book. I’ve come to appreciate that her characters are always real, quirky, and relatable. Elsie did not disappoint, though her tendency to people please got a little out of hand.
Stuck in academia hell, Elsie works three exhausting adjunct professor jobs just to barely scrape by. Her girlfriend-for-hire side hustle doesn’t quite cut it either, but it does make things interesting she interviews for an MIT professor role that includes the health insurance she so desperately needs. Things seem to be looking up until her fake boyfriend’s older brother shows up as one of the interviewers.
This rom-com hits like her others: cute, fun, STEM-based, steamy, and a little bit predictable. Great summer read!
