The Prisoner's Throne by Holly Black

3.0

This duology just wasn't it for me. I hate saying that because The Folk Of The Air is an amazing trilogy that I absolutely adore, but these two books just did not measure up.

I found this installment to be quite boring. While, at first, I enjoyed Oaks' pov and having a bunch of old faces make reappearance, his personality is just so bland. There really wasn't enough there to make me love him.

I missed Soren's pov to be completely honest. While I found her book to also be quite tedious and a little boring, I appreciated the fresh story and new characters that came out of it.

The romance between our two mcs can't even be called a romance. There's no spark. No chemistry, whatsoever, and no development between the two of them (other than constantly backstabbing each other). The only almost cute moments between them were all flashbacks of when they were kids.

The only redemption that I found was that once the story started going, it kinda kept going. I liked seeing Soren stand up for herself, and Oak grow into his true self.
