Was this a literary masterpiece? No. Did I predict a few major plot points? Yes. Was this my favorite book I’ve read in a long time? Absolutely. Somehow this author managed to get me SO invested in the plot and all the characters— to the point where I sobbed through the end of the book. It wasn’t just the main characters either— the entire cast was very memorable (coming from someone who often struggles to even remember the main characters names on account of how many books I read!)
I am a sucker for the slow burn push and pull trope- and even though I wanted to throw my phone at the wall listening to the audiobook of this, Lim always had me coming back to read more. In fact, I don’t think I’ve read a book this addicting since the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. 10/10 recommend if you’re a fan of YA fantasy romance!
