I've read all books in The Ivy Years series and this one has by far been favorite. Truth be told, typically same sex romance novels aren't my thing. I feel like you're either really into them or they just aren't your cup of tea. Needless to say, I decided to give this one a shot since I liked the other books in the serious. And I'm glad that I did.

There's nothing better than when a romance has a slow build and this one has it in spades. Bowen does a fantastic job of building up tension, so you can't help but anxiously anticipate when Rikker and Graham kiss for the first time (in years). I love that Graham resisted Rikker for so long because it only made it that much better.

The alternate POV worked really well too. Again, another thing that I usually don't like, but it totally worked here. You could feel everything that both Rikker and Graham were going through. And even though at times I wanted to shake Graham, it was hard not to sympathize with him. I can't imagine going through what both Graham and Rikker did and it was awesome seeing them come out on top in the end.

While the book was pretty heavy in terms of emotions, it did have a few characters that helped lighten the mood - namely Bella and Skippy. They added amusement and helped break up the angst. I really hope that Bella gets her own book because I'd love to see her get her own HEA.

If you liked other books in The Ivy Series I'd highly recommend this one - or even if you're looking for a good, somewhat angsty romance novel. This is definitely one you should check out!
