So much said in so few pages! Author Melanie Florence and illustrator Gabrielle Grimard depict the devastation of losing one's native language due to abuse and indoctrination through their stunning lyrical writing and soft watercolour illustrations.

Written in honour of Florence's grandfather, with whom she had a close relationship but never discussed his Cree heritage, the story follows a granddaughter who is curious about her grandpa's native language and how he lost it. The sweet interactions between the characters and the simple language the story was told through made me really emotional! It was a beautiful, heartbreaking, and ultimately, healing story.
