Demelza: A Novel of Cornwall, 1788–1790 by Winston Graham

1.0

After a fizzle of a story for #1, I had hoped that Graham would deliver on some promising prospects for characters in the second installment and was quite disappointed. For a 500 page book, he spent far too much time droning on about the mining business. The interesting parts were left wanting between chunks of business worries and talks.

Being historical fiction, set in Cornwall, we don't even need much world building (which isn't given) so there isn't a huge justification for me for the amount of time it took the story to move from one scene to another.

I can count on one hand the plot points that he orchestrated and unfortunately they weren't enough for me to continue on with the series.
