 Say You'll Remember Me

3 out of 5 stars

When Xavier and Samantha go on a date the day before she is leaving, they work to find out if they can make a long-distance relationship work.

One thing I like about this book is that there is more depth than just the love story. Samantha is dealing with real-world problems, and Xavier has grown-up concerns. The author is gifted at including some incredibly powerful scenes. I enjoyed the storyline about the mother with Alzheimer's. I cannot imagine the pain that causes for all of the family members. Unfortunately, this is the extent of what I really liked about the book.

To be honest, I think I might be too old and too far into my own marriage to be the target audience for this book. I can't stand the constant back and forth of characters trying to figure out what to do. We, the readers, get it. We understand the struggle without reading paragraph after paragraph of how hard it is. It is just over-the-top. Perhaps no one has ever taught the characters about opportunity cost. Honestly, who even goes on a date the last day they are due to be in town, anyway?

I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy annoying characters who cause their own difficulties.

Warning: spicy sex scenes
The author includes some topic warnings at the beginning of the book, including: infidelity and animal abuse
