Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong

4.0

I really enjoyed this book, although not quite as much as the first two. The plot was not at all what I expected it to be. I liked the magic system, the interweaving of witchery and sorcery, the secret grimoires. It kept me intrigued. I also liked seeing Paige's relationship with other townspeople and her interactions with the other coven witches.

I do have a couple of complaints. Firstly, Savannah was beyond frustrating. This could be a personal bias though, as I find kids in many books (and movies) to be super annoying and/or brats. Savannah was both.

Secondly, I wish Paige had had more fight in her. She spent most of the book being too scared to fight back. However, she starts to gain more of a backbone toward the end of the book. I hope this continues to build in future installments that involve her.
