The Carer by Deborah Moggach

There is some good humor in this book.

Otherwise though it felt like it was written specifically to be enjoyed by women 60 years and older who find thrilling to be decidedly unappealing. It felt a bit cliché, you could really predict what was going to happen pretty much from opening the covers - startling startles it did not have.
It's not terrible, it really isn't, but I think I came in with too high expectations, like a parent expecting A's from a child who'd rather do art and stare out the window while picking his nose.
(To be fair I was that child...)

Definitely recommended if you're like, "but I like that sort of stuff anyway!" but otherwise I recommend devouring it while reading another, more Wowwy-Zowwy book, so the two can offset each other!
