I (surprisingly) actually liked this book. It was very decent and interesting since it talks about true events that happened where we lived. I really liked the fact that we could truly see everything that happened in Almanda’s life thru her eyes. It felt more personal and intimate, in a good profond way.

I guess what basically didn’t work for me was the beggining of the book because it was sooo slow and repetitive and felt unnecessary + it’s written in french…but I realized after that it was probably because the author wanted to build correctly a sort of connection between the reader and the characters, like Thomas, Christine and Malek, so that we could really feel their important role in Almanda’s life. At least near the middle of the book the pacing started to get a bit more fast! Plus, the storytelling felt more realistic during the end, which I truly loved since I felt like I really was the one , for exemple, in the Parlement, fighting for my rights.

Anyways, great storytelling about everything the Innuits went thru and how the real "savages" were never them, but us, who took their land without permission. Word to define taking something without the owner’s permission: stealing. We are thiefs who stole their land, Period.
