As Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust by Alan Bradley

3.0

Flavia goes to Canada and more attention is paid to The Nide, which is a secret organization...of some sort. It's a newish development in the series and Mr. Bradley is still laying the ground work.

This addition to the series was a solid, if unspectacular, one. There's a bit of misdirection in what is really the main mystery, which is a great way to befuddle the reader. I also feel that he left clues out that were pivotal to resolving the mystery. I'm not sure that's playing fair. With giants of the genre like Christie, they always provide all the clues to the reader to be able to solve it. Admittedly, I never seem to get the solution but I think Mr. Bradley left out some clues here.

All that said, the characters are so good this book is worth a read. The subplot that runs under the main plot and ties the series together is getting more interesting. And if you're a fan of the series you won't be disappointed by this addition.
