I want to start by saying I might have enjoyed this book more if I read a physical copy as opposed to an audiobook. When it started switching perspectives and introducing a number of new characters at once, I got a little lost, and had to go back and be super intentional about noting which people were on which side, and when the perspectives were changing. I’m newer to audiobooks and would find myself getting distracted and suddenly wondering who these people were lol. But that’s probably just a me problem!! I think if I was reading with my eyeballs it would have helped me stay more immersed lol.
But!! Overall it was enjoyable, I loved the queer rep, and the complex relationships the characters had. Super interesting commentary on gender which was by far my favorite aspect of the book!! Had mixed feelings about the ending, but I know it’s a duology so I’ll definitely be checking out the sequel and maybe I’ll feel differently about the series ending!!
