Honestly this felt ...heavy handed? The feminism very much amounted to women being treated poorly and the main character telling us that it was the men's fault.
I keep hearing that the series picks up after the 2nd book, and I went into this series knowing that, so I will persist. There is enough world-building to keep me interested
