this book. um. so. wow. I don't really know what to say. It felt really really dark like im moving it out of the YA section. The mark scenes were terrifying and im like I love this series but is it worth this much trauma. I am very sound of mind and im really worried for people who aren't and are reading this kind of book. I did enjoy seeing the origin of Hugh and Lizzie and I think it added a lot of important context to the series but I just found myself uncomfortable for most of the book. If they were just a few years older throughout the whole thing it would've been less awkward but I did not feel great reading about 11 year olds full on making out and how um… eager lizzie was. I get that its part of a medical condition but if im this uncomfortable and im only a few years removed idk how a fully grown adult would feel reading this series, but I can't recommend it to teens cuz of how dark it is so theres no winning. It did not have the ending I was expecting but luckily it seems like were getting a 2nd book for them that will hopefully have some closure but yeah I just felt kind of off reading this whole book which also felt longer than it had to and was quite repetitive. idk what to rate it either, its just like um.
