House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

After reading a few other Maas books, I kept asking myself “Where’s the steamy scenes?!” And at first, it was distracting. Then I settled into what I found to be a really great story full of world and character building.

I loved the modern fantasy feel of this world - I can’t remember the last time a fantasy book I read had cellphones! Cellphones, angels, wolves, fae… add a little murder mystery twist. Seriously, what’s not to love?

I really enjoyed Bryce as a main character - all of her messiness just added to relatability. She’s a strong female lead and I loved it. Plus, Bryce and Danika’s friendship will stick with me for a long time.
