The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis
5.0

I read this in my early twenties as an earnest Christian, and found it very perceptive, but even as a post-Christian, it holds up surprisingly well. He goes into a lot of detail about the mechanics of religious belief, but there's lot of good stuff about how we deceive ourselves and sell ourselves short, and it's much better than the sort of self indulgent bollocks you get in a self help book. And the sort of bureaucratic take on how the devil does his work is very funny too. Excellent stuff.
