The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
adventurous
mysterious
medium-paced
3.5
Rating: PG13
Trigger Warnings: domestic abuse, death, chronic disease, manipulation
The Inheritance Games is an intriguing mystery with a spooky mansion, secret passageways, riddles, and hidden clues that kept me guessing at every turn.
I really enjoyed the book and will certainly continue reading the series, but I was let down by the conclusion. The conclusion to this first riddle (the riddle of Avery) was... overly sappy?
I also really, really disliked Emily - not only is she deplorable and manipulative, but she seems so terrible that I don't believe someone like her could exist.
