Relationships can be difficult, especially when you don’t know what the guy is thinking. According to Greg Behrendt, guys are not that complicated, although they’d like you to believe they are. Basically, if a guy does not make an effort, he’s probably just not that into you. A guy that is into you will make an effort and not use excuses such as “being too busy to call” to get in the way.
I read He’s Just Not That Into You at the right time in my life, right after a breakup where I kept trying to understand what went wrong. This book made me realize that there is no point to try to “figure him out” because the answer is simple, he just wasn’t into me. This knowledge sounds simple in principal, but it was a revelation to me. As women, we get so caught up in how we think about things without considering that the answer to a complicated question might actually be so simple that it is laughable.
Each chapter of He’s Just Not That Into You is divided into scenarios such as “he’s just not that into you if he’s not calling you.” For the first half of the chapter, there are questions by women (maybe real or fictitious, I am not sure), and then Greg Behrendt responds with a no-nonsense (sometimes hilarious) answer. The “what if” scenarios are tossed out the window and all that remains is the facts, he’s just not that into you.
On the flipside, being the person who has been (or is) in a relationship with someone who is “just not that into you” hurts. You begin thinking “why can’t any of them be into me!?” Greg has a solution for that too. You need to believe you are worthy of having the relationship you believe you deserve. If you don’t believe it, it won’t happen. It’s a difficult piece of advice to absorb, but it is the truth.
This book helped me so much to put things into perspective. I would recommend it to any single woman or teenage girl. Dating is tough enough as it is. If you can recognize the signs of a guy who is just not that into you right away, then it will save you from heartbreak in the future. I am going to recommend this book to all of my single women friends and family.
