It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

This is my first CoHo book and I'm in love, laughing, screaming, and sobbing.I don't know where to begin! Colleen made it ALMOST impossible to hate Ryle. The second Ryle hurt Lily, I was pretty much begging Lily to leave but throughout the good moments that they had, part of me was hoping that he would actually change for the better, then he would hurt her and here I was again, begging Lily to gain the courage to leave, I didn't judge her nor did I think she was stupid for staying, I understand the reasons why she did, the way her throughts process worked... I kept hoping Ryle would be able to change, since it's a book but unfortunately, he was not able to change just in time. My heart broke for Lily, Atlas, and Ryle. The chapter where Lily's mum talks to Lily about her abuse, makes me sob. As someone who is taking a Criminology degree and most of my essays I write about are based on DV, I know a lot about it and I know that most women and men end up not leaving because DV is a cycle and there's a lot of different factors that are involved. I think Colleen truly was able to get the message across and demonstrate several different sides of what happens behind closed doors and what people who are not in that relationship see. Part of me, made me hope Lily would take Ryle back, perhaps with the baby and excessive therapy he would be able to heal and change for the better and be able to finally love Lily the way she deserves... but I am definitely glad that Lily didn't take him back, I'm beyond happy that she ended the abusive cycle. Her mum couldn't do it. But she did it. I'm so happy that Atlas was able to figure his life out and I'm really glad and happy that Lily and Atlas found each other in the end.
