Middle of the Night by Riley Sager
2.5
mysterious tense medium-paced

This is only my third Riley Sager, but it’s definitely my least favorite of the bunch. Where the other two eventually verged into the paranormal, Middle of the Night is immediately and firmly in that category, and that is NOT my thing. I actually considering DNFing right away, but decided to give it a try. Safe to say it’s still not for me. But if that is your thing, you’ll probably like this! I thought it read more horror than thriller, and the narrative felt more on focused on the spooky themes than the search for the killer. I did like the alternating timelines, and I found each of the neighborhood’s families unique and interesting. But some of the twists were a bit obvious, and the ending was just too out there for me.
