Consider Yourself Kissed
by Jessica Stanley
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway—thank you! While not a traditional romcom, Consider Yourself Kissed offers an honest, sometimes raw portrayal of modern motherhood, blended families, and the emotional toll of trying to be everything to everyone. Coralie’s journey across a decade of love, marriage, and identity loss felt relatable, especially for working mothers juggling domestic and professional roles. Jessica Stanley captures the relentless internal pressure many women face while threading real UK political events throughout the story—though the latter didn’t always land for me personally. The middle section dragged a little, and at times the narrative felt more like a commentary on domestic life than a novel with a strong arc. That said, the characters felt authentic, and I appreciated the realistic depiction of imperfect people navigating a not-so-picture-perfect life.
