A Tale for the Time Being
by Ruth Ozeki
4.5
this felt like 5 stories packed into one, and Ozeki made it so easy to be invested in every. single. storyline. definitely a heavy-hitting read that constantly raises existential questions regarding life, death, and time, and while it can be uncomfortable to grapple with at times (most times tbh — i’d say it’s a pretty dark book) this is why i liked it. the ideas of an 104-year old Buddhist nun packaged mostly in the voice of a 16-year old girl. how often do you get that perspective?? would’ve been a five star read, but the ending felt just a little too neat for me. still worth the read for sure!!!!
