I'm not good with slow-paced and character-driven stories so I struggled with this one. It took me more than a month!

So this book is about three women living in the South, before and after the Civil War. I think this is my first book read about Black Slavery so the immersive narration style made it harder for me to take in the slavery atrocities.

While the proses are beautiful, they are not very easy to read. I need to reread some of them a few more times.

The conjuring scenes are very interesting though. The plants and weeds, voodoo dolls, and curses are so fascinating to me.

However, the ending was ambiguous. I was left annoyed.
