The End We Start From
by Megan Hunter
I get it, it's a loving hopeful tale of motherhood and how children bring back all hope even in a doomed world (quite literally, Britain has been flooded). But it just wasn't for me, the writing style I found so jerky and hard to follow, written as though thoughts in the woman's mind, it jumps around like someone's mind would do, but it was just too fragmented for me to enjoy I'm afraid. It felt like notes rather than an actual story and no plot at all. Maybe it should have been a poem rather than a novel.
