I'm confused about my feelings for this book???
So I just read my first ever bully romance and I'm very confused about the term 'bully romance'. This book was brutal. It took me right back to my school days and the inescapable atmosphere of being at school. Remember when it seemed like people not liking you was the end of the world? And I was never bullied anywhere as much as Maryne is in this book! It was a tense read, man!
Question: when does the romance happen? And by romance, I mean romance between two consenting people, and not involving someone who has been bullying another person and making their life a living hell?? Because these guys were fucking douchebags. And I don't consider any of this book romantic in any way. Also, how are these kids supposed to be 15-16 years old? No fucking way. They come across as 18+ for sure, and it's weird to be reading about these teenagers doing this kind of shit and then realising how old they're supposed to be.
But despite that, I COULD NOT PUT THE BOOK DOWN. Why did it draw me in so much? Why did I enjoy it? Why could I feel sexual tension? Why was I expecting so much more sex, and possibly even a gangbang/reverse harem situation? Again: WHY DID I ENJOY IT?
This book has definitely been a guilty pleasure read for me... and I kinda wanna finish the series..
